Reporting to the Project Manager our client seeks to appoint a General Manager – Community and Environment. This role is to oversee all of the community and environmental based functions for the pre-development stage of the Wa Gold Project, North West Ghana.
This key position is either a Ghana or overseas based position; however the expectation is that considerable time will be spent in country and especially on site.
It is essential that the candidate demonstrates a successful track record at senior managerial level in advancing and acquiring a Ghana EPA permit or similar in another jurisdiction. Relevant tertiary qualifications will also be a pre-requisite.
There will be a particular initial focus on managing land compensation, community programmes, dealing with numerous stakeholders including several local, regional and national government ministries ahead of development.
The successful candidate will also need to build on the small, existing site based team as well as select, appoint and manage several skilled specialists, consultants and advisors to ensure the timely achievement of critical milestones set by the Project Development team.
