All persons involved in or associated with the Extractive Industry are welcome to apply for membership of the Society, providing they satisfy the criteria specified in the Society Constitution. Application for the various Grades of Membership should be made on the Official Application Form.
All applications should be submitted on the official application form which can be completed online and submitted below.
All applications will be brought before the next sitting of the Council. Council members will vote on whether an application is successful or not.
Successful applicants will be invited to pay the joining fee and become an official member of the Irish Mining and Quarrying Society. Membership is renewed for all members in January of each year.

(Ordinary) Members shall be persons in the natural resources and extractive industries and in allied and associated industries, or in the provision of services to the natural resources and extractive industries, or in education with reference to the natural resources who meet one of the following criteria:
Corporate Members are firms, companies or other corporate bodies involved in the natural resources and extractive industries, or in allied or associated industries, or in the provision of services to the natural resources and extractive industries.
Corporate members have all the rights and privileges of Members, including the right to a single vote, but are not entitled to election as an Officer of the Society or to nominate candidates for election to Council.
Members, both corporate and ordinary, must be nominated by an existing member, or applications may be submitted directly to the Council for authorisation.

Honorary Fellows have distinguished themselves by their scientific, technical, or administrative activities in the natural resources and extractive industries, or have made important contributions to the advancement of the natural resources and extractive industries and/or the Society.
Fellows are Members in good standing of the Society who have reached the age of 35 years and who meet one of the following criteria:
Fellows of the Society who have been elected by the Council, who have paid their annual dues, and who remain in good standing are entitled to put the letters FIMQS after their name.
Student membership to the Irish Mining and Quarrying Society is free of charge
Student Members shall be persons engaged in study or training, directed towards employment in the natural resources or extractive industries.
They shall be entitled to all the rights and privileges of members, except that they shall not have the right to nominate candidates or to vote in election to Council, or to hold office as an Officer of the Society
