Chief Mine Engineer
Reporting to the Head of Section for Technical Services & Mine Operation Control this senior position involves responsibility for the overall Mine Engineering functions including mine planning and design, drill & blast, geotechnical and ventilation. The role involves leading an experienced team to ensure the delivery of quality and timely Mine Engineering services to mine operations and to ensure that key targets in EHS, ore recovery, and mining costs are achieved. Responsibilities will also include leading projects that modernise Tara Mine and optimise efficiencies. The position also involves communications with external agencies and consultants with respect to various aspects of mining legislation and design strategies.
Qualifications and Experience
The successful candidate will possess a third level degree in Mining Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering coupled with a minimum of 10 years’ experience in mining (of which a minimum of 5 years is in underground base metal mining), or other relevant degree coupled with a minimum of 15 years’ experience in mining (of which a minimum of 5 years in underground base metal mining).
Proven technical management experience.
- Experience in Mine Planning, LOM Budgeting, Ore Reserve reporting, backfilling, practical underground production experience.
- Skilled in mineral finance, understanding EBITDA, free cash flow, NVP, cut-off calculations and key budget drivers.
- Excellent planning and organisational skills, including goal setting, group performance monitoring and the ability to modify priorities where necessary to achieve these goals.
Fluency in the English language both written and spoken is essential.
