Our client is one of the world’s largest Caterpillar suppliers of construction, earth moving and power systems equipment. With over 80 years of success, the company sells, rents and provides parts and services for equipment and engineers to customers in various industries.
The organisation is active in the construction sector and supplies heavy plant machinery to customers, including global blue-chip organisations within the construction sector and for major infrastructure projects. With an operational lifetime of 20 – 25 years, customers require support, parts and services during this period.
Due to continued business growth, they are looking for a New Prep Engineer to join their team in Dublin on a permanent, full-time basis.

As a New Prep Engineer, you will prepare and ready a range of Caterpillar machinery, ensuring customers receive the very best equipment and service.
Specifically, you will carry out pre-delivery preparation and customisation of earth moving equipment, attachments and components. A significant volume of machines will be supporting one the UK’s largest, modern infrastructure projects in the delivery of High Speed 2 and so will need to be of the highest quality.
You will complete all health and safety pre-work documentation and liaise with the Customer Service Team to provide the very best customer experience.
Additionally, you will:
– Identify any parts required and communicate these to the Service Control Team
– Execute any customising work to the highest possible standards
– Keep the workshop and work area in a clean and orderly condition
– Work to CAT contamination control guidelines
To be considered as a New Prep Engineer, you will need:
– Demonstratable skills and experience working within any mechanical background
– Working knowledge in a mechanical discipline
– Knowledge of good workshop practices
– Effective problem-solving skills
– To be self-motivated and adaptable
– An NVQ, City and Guilds or equivalent qualification in land-based service engineering, vehicle maintenance and repair or mechanical engineering
Applications are welcomed from those with a background in service, maintenance or repair of heavy machinery, materials handling equipment, agricultural machinery, powered access equipment, cranes or lifting gear, light or heavy vehicles, passenger cars, or candidates with a strong electro-mechanical background and the enthusiasm and capability to start a career with the largest Caterpillar dealer in the world.
This is a full-time role working 39 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Additional hours may be required, including evenings or weekends, for which overtime is paid in accordance with our client’s overtime rates.
