Irish Concrete Federation Launch Aggregates policy
Irish Concrete Federation Launch Aggregates Policy .
Minister Sean Canney TD recently launched the Irish Concrete Federation Policy Document “Essential Aggregates- Providing for Ireland’s Needs to 2040”.
Minister of State for Natural Resources, Community Affairs and Digital Development, Sean Canney TD, said: “The Government is focused on achieving the objectives set down in Project Ireland 2040 and as you saw in Budget 2020, we are committing the necessary funds to ensure public infrastructure projects are delivered that guarantee a good quality of life of all our citizens. I’m acutely aware of the key role that aggregate materials will play in the delivery of Project Ireland 2040 and we are working with all stakeholders to ensure that the planning system needs to be reformed and streamlined to allow for this. I applaud the Irish Concrete Federation for their leadership in the delivery of this report and I look forward to working with them to advance a National Aggregates Policy.”
The key recommendations
- Adoption of a National Aggregates Policy
- Identification and Protection of Aggregate Reserves
- Planning Reforms
- Procurement from authorised sources
IMQS supports these recommendations , in particular the requirement that Local State Authorities procure materials only from operators who are compliant with planning law.
